The amc 727 is a great tranny and contrary to popular belief it is in great abundance. I find mine in wagoneers that have a select-a-track or any other np
case. The great thing about this is that its only 1/2
inch longer and will mate to any amc 258-304-360-401
without adaptor and it will mate with a dana 300 or a np231 (that came out of an 6 cyl wrangler *23 spline).
If the tranny is put in a wrangler driveshaft clearance
is there but the vaccum locked front differential has to go ( boo whoo ) If the 727 is put in a cj prefferably a cj-7 the case is wider on the right side___but can easily be modified with a hammer to the pan a tranfer case lowering should probly be in order but is not neccesary in cases with a lift kit the front driveshaft will clear the case. if you have any ?'s mail me at
