I have a new 2000 grand cherokee laredo with 6 cyl and selec-trac 4 wheel drive and the larger all-terrain tires. My car does NOT have varilok limited shift differential or tow hoooks or skid plates. I plan to use this jeep maybe 10 days a year for surf-fishing and related driving on Atlantic Coast beaches. Otherwise it's a road truck. Is lack of limited slip or tow hooks or skid plates going to get me into trouble? If so what is solution keeping present jeep? What gear would I typically use on beach - permanent 4 wheel, part time 4 wheel or LOW 4 wheel? And what gear should I switch to if start to get stuck? If I need a tow by another 4 wheeler, in the absence of tow hooks, where should I attach the tow rope or cable, if a front tow - or alternately if a rear tow? Do you have any other advice for using this jeep on the beach - all would be much appreciated.
