It was the clutch. One of the pressure pads was totally gone. It must have been cracked and just disinegrated when it let go.
Total cost to fix: $637.

: The YJ is now at the shop, they are doing a $350 fishing expedition to see if they can find out what broke, aparently it wasn't anything 'simple'. It's looking like the bill is going to run into the $800-900 range.
: If anyone has had a similar failure, please let me know so I can tell if the garage is screwing me.
